Diabetes type 1 is an autoimmune illness that mainly affects children. In Spain, there are more than 600.000 people with DT1 and 30.000 are under 15 years old. Those kids have to control their sugar levels injecting their finger by needles between 8 to 15 times per day. They have to inject themselves with insulin before every meal, control the carbohydrates eaten and do exercise, even some of them have to carry a glucose meter, which is inserted inside their bodies every week.<\/p>\n\n
In addition, they have to check on their levels at midnight but the sad part is, even though everything is done by the rules, this is such an ungrateful illness. A very low level of glucose on blood could cause a coma and a high level of glucose for a long time could cause very serious health problems such as blindness, heart attacks, and amputations.<\/p>\n\n
Our dream is focus on eradicating this illnesses and find the cure to improve the quality of life of all those who suffer from diabetes and over all helping them to live a normal life.<\/p>\n\n
